The basic purpose of the Health Center will offer primary health care to the local population. This will involve preventative care and disease management. Special attention will be paid to mental health of the population. This is so that individuals are mentally healthy to effectively participate in the development efforts of the COD. Through the Health Center and its related activities, a culture shift is envisioned from ‘managing and treating sickness’ to ‘managing and increasing the wellness’ of the local population. Individuals, who are healthy physically and mentally, will ensure the successful outcome of Profugo’s development efforts. Clinical DataThrough the use of Electronic Health Record systems, a COD will maintain a well documented history of health regarding the local population. This information will be shared freely between the CODs so as to improve clinical outcomes. Health records will also be transferred electronically to acute/chronic care facilities. Specialty care can be facilitated through the use of Telemedicine. Clinical data collected at Profugo CODs will be shared with local regulatory and health policy organizations. Data will also be shared with International Health and Disease management bodies such as the World Health Organization, USAID, CDC, etc. Through increased sharing of information, it is hoped that policy makers are better equipped at making more effective health policy related decisions. Better data can increase the effectiveness of the efforts of all parties involved.
